Since there are just two of us, one shed, and one hundred acres, each year we must sell alpacas. Most of the time we sell the younger animals, but at times we have to sell older animals as well. We sell the same range of quality that we keep. Although we concentrate on breeding grey and black, we have two rose greys and several fawns and browns. Therefore we also may have alpacas in the brown range for sale. Please email for fleece stats and other information. Discounts are given for purchase of groups.
Sky Blue has a very good frame and very good colour. Her first fleece was medium in micron and her fifth fleece was only slightly less fine, with a low CV. Her fleece is very soft for her age, with some crimp. This maternal line shows outstanding vigor. They have also produced grey well. Sky Blue has had two female cria, one medium grey (who had a grey daughter) and one bay-black with a fine, silky fleece. They have grown well. Her last date of mating was Sept. 29, 2007.
Delia is a sweet-tempered young grey alpaca female by a well known grey male and a good quality grey dam (see below). Her fleece is medium in micron, has a long staple, good lustre and good weight (saddle weight 1.6 kilos on second fleece). She gave birth without difficulty to a dark bay-brown or black male cria by Platinum on December 15, 2007. He is available with her if desired. A mating to Platinum is offered with her.
Isabelle is a neatly built, strong female who has produced vigorous, good-quality offspring. I sold her black daughters because at the time I was keeping the greys, but she has had two grey males. She is on the dark side of medium, with one spot on her neck. Her fleece is no longer fine, but was of good quality when she was younger. She is not halter-trained, but is not difficult to handle. Her last date of mating was March 30, 2008.
Bess is a large-framed female who has produced and raised her crias without difficulty. Her crias have tended to have denser fleeces than average and very good coverage. Her first and second fleeces were among the heaviest we have had from silver greys here, at 3.6 and 3.8 kilos, with good length as well as density. Her fleece is still long for her age, dense, free of hair, and has a broad crimp. Her present fleece is well under 30 micron and with a good CV. She was last mated on October 14, 2007.
Argentina is a very pretty, sweet-tempered yearling. She is heavily built, with a compact frame. She is well-covered, and her fleece is more even over her body than average. Her fleece is on the dark side of medium grey with good density, luster, and style. It is probably medium in micron. Her dam is by Merungle Hot Chili and came third at the National Show in 2003. Argentina is for sale because I have her dam, sire, and also her full sister (Argentina is better than her sister). Mating is offered with her.
Eleanor is a grey with a multi pattern and blue eyes (she is not deaf). She is a quiet, peaceful herd member who is raising her daughter well. Eleanor has a perfect frame. Her 2007 fleece was medium in micron with a good CV. It has changed little from her first fleece. Nora has the same pattern but dark eyes. Nora is well-covered and her fleece appears to be better than her dam's. Either of these females should have some solid-coloured and grey offspring. An offer from a good home would be considered. If you are buying alpacas for pleasure or need company for other females, these would be a good choice.
Cranberry is a cheerful alpaca who is easy to handle. She has a compact, neat (and well-padded!) frame, is well-covered, and has a dense, crimpy fleece, unfortunately over 30 micron. Her colour, a very dark vicuna fawn, has changed over time, with the pale, roan areas spreading. She has had three good-natured male crias, two solid black and the most recent a pretty fawn roan who is available with her. Her dam is by Jolimont Conquistador. She was last mated April 29, 2008. An offer from a good home would be considered. If you are buying alpacas for pleasure or need company for other females, these would be a good choice.
We have a number of alpaca males available as livestock guards, companions, or pets. Although males inevitably get older and grow less useful fleece, we are happy to provide fleeces with them. All adults are halter-trained and should respond well to handling. The price varies according to the animal and the number purchased. Some are castrated; otherwise castration can be arranged at cost.
We have coloured alpaca fleeces available at reasonable prices (plus postage) for entire saddles. They are relatively free of vegetable matter. We both spin and can discuss what you need (in English, French or Japanese) and also help find what we do not have. |
